TIPS FOR VEGAN BEGINNERS!

the scale carry you home to the mountain me and Sue my friend you’ll see the looking won’t you the won’t you and down [Music] hey guys I’m Sarah and today I’m coming to you from this beautiful forest that I actually got my wedding photos done at four years ago this week isn’t that amazing [Music] so today I wanted to do a real quick video answering one of my most common questions which is what tips do you have for vegan beginners tip number one is join the community you are not alone even though you think you like you’re the only vegan you know in your town or in your family or in your big group of friends which you probably are you actually aren’t alone there are thousands of us online there are youtubers there are Instagram accounts there are blogs there are also vegan apps like the vegan amino app which is an awesome vegan community app we are all around on social media so just like tap into us honestly there are heaps of us out there next up point number two is find a week worth of vegan recipes and buy a vegan recipe book and why I say this is because it can be really overwhelming you first go vegan like what do you eat fruit vegetables legumes it seems really basic but for some people it can be really challenge so go buy yourself a vegan cookbook or find a really good vegan blog which has a week worth of vegan recipes make those recipes and keep making them until you find new ones and use those as your staple recipes so in my household I do the usual lasagna I also do a sweet potato salad with black beans I do a Mexican night and then another night I do like a chickpea curry and those are my four four or five staple recipes I do and I just keep repeating them and then I’ll just find new bits here and there tip number three is focus on nourishment not restriction because sometimes when you start a vegan diet you think oh gosh I can eat well I can’t I can’t eat meats so what do I eat so let’s take their restriction and put all the emphasis on nutrition what can I eat what’s going to make me feel my best what fruit and veggies are going to give me the most energy ago and not nourish my body from the inside now tip number 4 would be don’t aim to be perfect because no one is perfect about once a week to once every two weeks we go out for dinner we enjoy a meal full of oil with sugar you know sometimes you just have to do it then and I have this rule where we eat healthy whole food plant-based 80 percent of the time 90 to 80 percent of the time and in that 10 to 20 percent we still make sure we eat definitely a vegan diet and try and empty eight whole foods and not have too many processed foods but you know what if we’re out and there’s no other vegan food sure we’re going to have some packaged foods and sometimes you just have to eat right tip number five I would say this isn’t really a tip this is just a little bit of advice is that your habits will change your taste buds will change when you start on day one today fifty six down the line you compare those two days and they will be completely different your taste buds will start adapting to eating less salt and more packaged fruits to eating more Whole nourishing foods another tip I would say is eat until you’re satisfied eating an abundance of whole plant foods you really have to eat until you’re full this graph here just shows with the same amount of calories your stomach is going to be either full on all the fruit and vegetables or it’s going to be not so full on the calories of fat so you’re going to need to eat a lot more plant foods to feel satisfied for longer so thanks so much guys for listening to a few of my quick tips for vegan beginners I really hope you enjoyed these points just remember you are on a health journey so don’t be too hard on yourself along this journey if you screw up which you will I did did everybody I know did don’t feel bad about it you know step by step you’ll get there anyway that’s out for me thanks guys see you next video [Applause] [Music] the beginner meter and and we’re all here [Music] it’s mine
